Jay Hwasung
Jung.

I'm a PhD researcher at the University of Vermont, working with Prof. Safwan Wshah in the Vermont AI Lab. My work spans generative models for therapeutic peptide and protein design and deep learning for medical imaging — tied together by an interest in agentic AI that carries discovery from benchmark to bench to bedside.

Research

03 / focus areas
01

Generative Biomolecular Design

Generative models for therapeutic peptide and protein design — expanding the chemical vocabulary to non-canonical residues, with candidates validated in the wet lab.

02

Agentic AI

Multi-agent systems that plan and execute end-to-end scientific and clinical workflows across generation, screening, and verification.

03

Medical Imaging

Autonomous C-arm positioning, skeletal landmark localization, and uncertainty-aware (conformal) prediction for fluoroscopy-guided neurointervention.
